My Survey

I conducted a survey to find out exactly what my target audience wants to see in a regional magazine and what they think of them in general. This is a vital part of the planning of a magazine (or any media platform). This is because it is important to know exactly what your target audience want to see so that you know that they are going to buy it and want to read it because if they do not want to read it then no one will buy it.

These are the answers to my question: What do you want to find out/read about your county?
I had fairly even answers as all my participants answered that they would like to read about events happening in the region and news about the region. 50% of my participants answered that they would like to see other things in the magazine and I feel I should have included a text box so I could find out exactly what they wanted.
This is the question where I asked how much my participants would be willing to pay for a regional magazine. 50% said they would be willing to be £2-£3 for it which surprised me as I originally thought, because my target audience is students, no one would be willing to pay this much. However 50% did answer that they would only be willing to be £1-£2 for a regional magazine which is more the price range I was expecting but not something I am willing to consider because this makes my magazine look slightly less professional, well made and high-end (which is the look I am going to with my inspiration being Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire etc who all go for the more classy look).
On this question I asked my audience if they wanted my magazine genre to be 100% regional or if they liked the idea of my magazine being fashion and regional. As you can see I got 100% of the answers on 'yes, so that it is about this genre'. This means that they want to see the Cornish elements of my magazine purely based on fashion and nothing else. If they had answered 'Yes, but with more regional', I would have had to have put content such as information on landscapes in Cornwall, Cornish restaurants etc.
On this question I asked if my audience would be more inclined to buy the magazine if there was a star vehicle on the front cover. 100% of my responses said no, they would not be more inclined to buy my magazine if it had a star vehicle on the cover. I think this is because this would not fit in with the theme of my magazine because regional magazines tend to be fairly low-key and so a famous person on the front would not suit it and there are not any famous people in Cornwall anyway that are in the fashion world.

This question was 'Would it be beneficial if I made a website for my magazine?' as before I made one I wanted to see what my audience thought of the idea. 100% of them answered Yes.
